My Package Says It is Being Returned to the Sender

One thing we see here at The Home Security Superstore happen from time to time is orders returned to us by FedEx or USPS due to issues with the address or delivery. We understand that this can be a bit frustrating and we will do everything in our power to ensure that your order arrives to you. We've laid out below some scenarios that may cause an order to return to us and how to avoid them as well as how we handle getting these items back to you.

1. USPS Designation "Insufficient Address"
This is the most common return we see, this is due to the provided address missing something like an apartment number, building number, or suite number.

The easiest way to prevent this is to ensure that you have filled out all of your information even if your order is intended to be delivered to an apartment mailbox or front office.

If an order is returned to us with this designation we will reach out to you to get the updated apartment or suite number and reship the package.

2.USPS Designation "Attempted - Not Known"
While not as common you will see this designation fairly often, this means that the driver attempted delivery however the occupants of the delivery address stated they do not know anyone with that name.

We see this most commonly when customers buy products for friends or family, the best way to prevent this is to list the name of the person you are buying the order for is provided for the shipping address when the order is placed.

If an order is returned to us with this designation we will reach out for either an updated name or updated address and reship the package.

3. USPS Designation "Unable to Forward"
This designation is most commonly seen when a customer is in the process of moving and has not set up their mail forwarding.

The best way to prevent this is to ensure that you have any order shipped to your new address or to speak with the postal service to set up mail forwarding.

If an order is returned to us with this designation we will reach out for an updated address and reship the package.

4. USPS Designation "Delivery Location Inaccessible"
This is the least common designation but it is an important one to cover, this designation occurs simply because USPS had difficulty delivering.

There are various reasons this can happen, the most common is construction or delivery to businesses after they close. We recommend using an alternative address if you have any ongoing construction or are shipping to a business.

If an order is returned to us with this designation we will reach out for an updated address and reship the package.

5. USPS & FedEx Designation "Unclaimed"
This designation is shared between USPS and FedEx as it is for orders that are unable to be delivered and are brought back for pickup at the sorting facility.

To prevent this we recommend keeping up with the tracking of the order, we've included the link to do so here.

If a package arrives back to us with this designation we will reach out to see if you would like the order re-shipped.
